WELLNESS ONCOLOGY & HEMATOLOGY
Lung cancer is one of the most common solid tumors and aggressive in nature. In most cases, lung cancer is directly associated with smoking but in some instances not affiliated with any tobacco exposure. There are generally two broad categories that encompass lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer and small cell lung cancer. Over the last several years, significant strides have been made to better understand the genetic drivers of non-small cell lung cancer, the most common form, leading to more effective medications with with less toxic outcomes. Treatment generally consists of surgery and or a combination of chemotherapy and radiation with earlier stages of lung cancer while chemotherapy and targeted medications dominate the landscape for more advanced cases.
At Wellness Oncology & Hematology, Dr. Shaye, Dr. Lashkari, and Dr. Ho will recommend the best course of treatment based specifically on the type of the cancer and stage. Surgery and radiation are possible treatment options, in conjunction with medications customized to treat the cancerous cells (chemotherapy). Reducing the size of the tumor, slowing the growth and spread of the cancer, or curing the cancer completely is the goal of the team at Wellness Oncology & Hematology.
