Wellness Oncology continues to support cancer patients with Penguin Cold Caps and the Rapunzel Project

By: Dr. Christopher Ho on October 31, 2013, 3:09 pm

The strength and resolve of our cancer patients is a source of our dedication and resourcefulness in their treatment.

Recently, one of our patients inquired about any treatments which would minimize the loss of her during her chemotherapy. Previous treatments against hair loss from chemotherapy were seemingly ineffectual. However upon further research, our physicians and managers were quickly able to partner with the Rapunzel Project and Penguin Cold Caps.

Penguin Cold Caps are specialized caps frozen to a very cold temperature, and worn for a period of time before, during and after each chemotherapy treatment. The cooling of the hair follicles prevents chemotherapy toxins from reaching them, preserving the follicles and therefore preserving the patient’s hair. This process has been in use in Europe for more than 15 years. Well over a thousand individual patients in the United States have learned of and successfully used cold cap therapy in the last few years.

We are proud to offer Penguin Cold Caps to reduce hair loss from chemotherapy in support of our cancer patients.

Call 818 346 1773 to set up an appointment for a discussion with Drs. Omid Shaye, Ashkan Lashkari, or Christopher Ho, board-certified medical oncologists, for this special treatment option.
